James W. Coates of Sperryville assumed duties officially as county of ice manager of the Rappahannock Agricultural Stabilization committee on Monday, Dec. 17. H e was appointed manager in November and since has received six weeks of training in Southampton, Patrick and Fauquier counties before returning to the Rappahannock of ice. Mr. Coates is a native of Madison County where he was employed as a field reporter in the A.S.C.S. program several years ago. He previously worked with Rappahannock Farmers Cooperative and was manager of Washington Apple Growers Cooperati\e . Through these positions he is well known to most area farmers, however those who do not know him are in\ ited to drop by the local office and become acquainted.
Mr. and Mrs. Coates live with their two children Cassie and Sandra in Sperryville. Mrs. Coates is the former Betty Snead.
