Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lindgren from Stockholm, Sweden and more recently of Los Angeles, California have purchased 2600 acre Jessamine Hill Farm in Tiger Valley near Washington, Virginia and have taken up residency with their two daughters and son. Sale of this property was consummated through the real estate offices of W. A. Miller and George H. Barkley. Jessamine Hill was built by John Thomas Fletcher in the 1840's and was similar to Ben Venue built by his brother W. M. Fletcher. Both were constructed by James L. Powers, the local master builder of his day, who served his carpentry apprenticeship by working on the buildings at the Uni\ersity of Virginia. This acm counts for the Jeffersonian feeling of Federal type architecture of both of these houses and also the County public buildings constructed by Powers.
Jessamine Hill was inhabited by descendants of the original owners for the next hundred years until the early 1940’s when it was sold by the
92.1%
