Senate Recorder at the Capitol in Washington, was so impressed by what the staff was trying to do through this Library that he has offered considerable assistance in securing government materials and free books. Mr. and Mrs. Attig and son Joseph of Chevy Chase, Md. were all day guests at Avon Hall. Another visitor, a benefactor from the beginning, wrote her heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the Trustees jand people of Rappahannock on their new Library and quoted from Thomas Jefferson as follows! “independence and freedom can survive only in an educated society*. And continued to say, what better way to celebrate Independence Day in this year of 1963 than to provide this living memorial, this collection of books, for the education and inspiration of the whole community.
The first organizational meeting of the District Committee, now being appointed by the Trustees, will beheld at the Library, July 19 at 8 p.m.
