Mr. and Mrs. William A. Barksdale of Marietta. Ga. have been guests from Sunday until today of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Barksdale. They will leave today accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis 0. Barksdale of Waynesboro for a trip through the New England States. Guests on the 4th of July of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Spalding were Mrs. Christopher Morse of Portsmouth and her son the Rev. Christopher Morse, Jr. of Hampton. Mrs. Morse was a former teacher in the county schools. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Howell and family of Madison Heights were guests from Tuesday until Sunday of Mrs. Howell’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Paul Miller. Among those who attended the Lawn Party supper Saturday at Willis Chapel were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spalding, Miss Virginia Bradford, Mrs. Galley W. Smith, Jr. Charlie Smith and Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Barksdale. Mr.and Mrs.John S.Browning and son*1 Butch* Browning attended a reunion of Mrs. Browning’s family, the Kays, Sunday, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Palmore in Tappahannock, where twenty members of the family were present. Jimmy Bowling of Washington, D.C. spent the weekend at his place near Flint Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Russell and son Terry left Monday on a motor trip to Cape Cod and other parts of New England.
The Methodist Sunday School picnic, held Sunday at Hawksbill Park near Luray was well attended and greatly enjoyed. Due to repairs being made on the Baptist Church, service were held Sunday in the Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. John S. Browning left today for j Verona, New Jersey for a visit of several days with Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Browning.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Roberson and son Philip left Monday for Louisville, Ky., enroute to their home in Hopkinsville, Ky. following a ten day visit in the home of CapL and Mrs. J. P. Cook.
Mr. and Mrs. James M. Settle, Jr., son Tom of Alexandria and Miss Judy Baroniak of St. Mary’s City, Md. were 4th of July guests of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Settle. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Frank of Luray were Sunday guests of the Settles. Dr. and Mrs. T. G. Pullen of Catonsville, Md. spent the holiday week-end at their home. The Rev. and Mrs. M. C. Cook and daughter Linda of Berryville were Sunday callers in the home of Capt. and Mrs. J. P. Cook.
