Gross receipts from the Washington Carnival last weekend topped tlie $8,000 mark. The 4-night event, sponsored by Washington Fire Co. and Rappahannock Rescue Squad, was deemed most successful by Fire Chief Gibson Wharton. Highlights of the carnival included the crowning of Miss Nancy Lillard, daughter of Deputy Sheriff and Mrs. Ernest Lillard of Washington as Carnival Queen and 1964-65 Honorary Fire Chief. Miss Kay Johnston, holder of that title last year, crowned the queen on Wednesday, the opening night. Parker Injured In Fall From Hoof
Frank Parker of Culpeper, was recently injured when installing an antenna on the roof of his home. Using an electric drill, he was alleged to have received an electric shock, causing him to fall to the ground from which he suffered a.broken pelvis and concussion. He remained unconscious for several days. He is now improving satisfactorily in Culpeper Memorial Hospital, but will be confined in bed for sometime, according to his wife, the former Myrla Ann Updike, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Taylor Updike, Washington, Va.
