Elmo D. Flynt
Elmo Denton Flynt, 68, of Rock Mills, near Woodville, died at his home Saturday, June 27, 1964. Mr. Flynt was born in Lin_eoln County, Oklahoma, the son of William Flynt and Laura Denton Flynt. He was a former executive officer of the Oklahoma National Guard, serving in the Oklahoma Adjutant General’s office in the I920’s as a lieutenant colonel. He served in the Mexican Border Dispute and in F ranee during World War I. In 1917 he won the French Croix de Guerre. After the war he attended Oklahoma State Uni v e r s i t y, but remained in the Guard until 1932. He then moved to Washington and joined the Federal Communications Commission and later transferred to the Department of Justice, serving in the anti-trust division until his retirement four years ago. Since the Flynts moved to Rappahannock County, Mr. Flynt served on the boundary commission. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Wleland Bond Flynt of the home address and a sister Mrs. Edith Tharp of Chandler, Okla. A funeral service was held Tuesday at 3 p. m. from the graveside in Arlington National Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Glaenzer of. Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington Va., officiating. Clore Funeral Home, Culpeper, was in charge of arrangements.
