Rappahannock is caught in the icy grip of winter with temperatures ranging from 10 below zero to slightly above freezing. Four inches of snow fell Saturday making driving hazardous and occasional piercing winds have added to the discomfort of the season. Crowds of skiiers jammed Skyline Ski Area over the weekend as skiing conditions were near perfect Sunday. A total of a thousand skiiers and spectators we re at the area Sunday. The groundhog saw his shadow here Tuesday so don’t put away any winter clothes and keep the snow shovel handy for the next six weeks.
