Snowy Roads Cause
Series of Accidents
A rash of traffic mishaps, caused by Saturday's slippery snow, were reported on Rappahannock roads. One vehicle skidded into a guard rail six miles west of Sperryville on Route 211 at 2 p.m. Donald Lee Bostic of Arlington, driving a 60 Buick, was not injured, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin who investigated.
At 2;15 Trooper Buntin was called to a two-car collision on Route 211 between Amissvilie and Ben Venue. A 59 Chevrolet operated by Richard L. Minnihan of Whitinsville, Mass, and a 58 Chevrolet driven by Jacobus J. Jonkman of Hyattsville. Md. collided on an icy curve. There were no injuries. Maryann Elizabeth McGuinness of Roselle, N. J. sustained a lacerated scalp when the 62 Buick sedan she was driving skidded on ice, ran off the right of the road and struck a tree. This accident also occurred between Amissville and Ben Venue. Trooper Paul P. Dicks investigated. Earlier in the day, Roy Taylor of Sperryville skidded head irst down an embankment near this same spot. He was aot injured. Also near Ben Venue the same afternoon another vehicle skidded on ice and ran up the bank.
