At the first monthly meeting of 1965 held on January 29, the Board of Directors of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia appropriated $3,146, 165 for the continued expansion of communications facilities and service in Virginia. Included in this month’s appropriation is $200,000 for two projects in the Culpeper area. A sum of $173,000 will be used for an outside plant project involving cable which will be placed between the Culpeper and Sperryville central offices It will provide the necessary facilities for toll-free calling between the two exchanges. This project also includes sufficient facilities for telephone growth along the route. Also, $27,000 will be used for an outside plant project. Cable will be placed in the western portion of the Grayson central office northwest along Route 640 toward Laurel Mill§ and along Routes 015, 617, and 618 toward Rock Mills. This work is necessary to take care of future telephone growth in this area. A sum of $893,625 is designap ed for 14 private branch exchanges (PBX’s) for businesses and government agencies.
