This year's Chairman feels very grateful that she has not experienced any immediate family losses through heart disease but she is still grieved and shocked at several recent tragedies involving close friends. She feels that it was the broad support of all the good and enlightened people of the county that made possible the conquest of polio and that the same has now to be the case with the NUMBER ONE KILLER - THE HEART DISEASES. Proceeds of the Virginia Heart Fund Drive are used to fight th/e heart and blood vessel diseases (heart attack, Stroke and other complications of hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure, rheumatic fever, inborn heart defects, itc.) Last year, these diseases, according to the Bureau of Vital Statistics, caused 58% of all deaths in
