For example, just plain false identification of con tents is prohibited, and so are the half truths (such as nylon when it is a mixture of nylon and other fibers). When a tag refers to the outside covering it must identify each kind of fiber present and its percentage in the mixture. The manufacturer myst state all the facts in labeling fillings if he refers to them at all. Foam rubber must be foam rubber. Any filling that is shredded, flaked or non-rubber cannot be called foam rubber. Neither can fillings that have cotton stuffing be called wool. The other major area of labeling is in regard to design. Since terms such as French Provincial or Chinese Chippendale are understood by the buy - ing public, they are allowed. Furniture made in the U. S. cannot be labeled Danish modern, or Swedish modern, however, but must be called “Danish styled". Responsible shopper should read all labels before making a purchase of furniture.
