Fox Drag Race
Entries Open
The Rappahannock Hunt Club has announced it will again sponsor a fox-hound drag race to be held in conjunction with their Point-to-Point races to be held March 6, 1965 at Thornton Hill Farm, Sperryville.
The drag Is open to members of the Northern Virginia Foxhunters Association (Mrs. C. J. Ireland, Treasurer, Hazel-Land Farm, Boston) or individuals residing in the Rap pahannock Hunt territory. No hounds from organized hunt club packs are eligible. W. H. Lyne, Washington, Va. Chairman of the Drag Race Committee, reports entries may be made at any time between now and February 26; the fee-50£ per hound. Fox hunters may send their entries to either Mr. Lyne, or to any one of the following committeemen; A. Lawton Blankenbaker, Haywood, Va.; C. J. Ireland, Boston, Va.; Clifton Clark, Woodville, Va. Owners are cautioned to print their names and addresses and number of hounds they wish to enter in a legible manner when mailing in entries. Hounds may be brought to the race course, located about 2 1/2 miles south of Sperry ville on Route 522, at 10 a.m. but not later than 11 a.m. on race date. Hound names will be recorded by a member of the committee, numbers assigned to each, and each hound stenciled at this time. The Rappahannock Hunt is donating $45.00 in cash toward awards. This sum plus entry fees will be divided among the winners as follows: to first place-40%, to second place-25%, third-15%, fourth and fifth-10% each.
