Following the announcement in last week’s issue of the Rappahannock News concerning the burning of the home ol James (“B") Jenkins in Jenkins Hollow my wife and ] visited the site of the fire anc talked with members of the family. We found a near-desperate situation. The home consisted of three connected house trailers which were com pletely destroyed with all cor tents, only the clothing being worn was saved. There was nc insurance. The father and mother with their two small daughters are living temporarily with her father nearby, who is in poor health and unable to work. Besides this thqre is a partially paralyzed grandson in awheel chair. Considering the desperate need and winter weather the response to the call for assistance has been somewhat meager to date, although several have responed with clothing and cash. The man is average size and wears size 36 to 40; his wife is tall and wears size 36 tc 38. The ages of the little girls are two and seven years. Cloth ing of all kinds is needed, alsc housekeeping articles of all kinds. This appears to be an opportunity for Christian neighbors to show the quality of our religion by quick and generous response to meet a human need regardless of denomination, social standing or personal habits of those who are caught in a tragedy. Those who wish to help meet the emergency may take their articles to the Esso station in Sperryville where the opera ‘tor Mr. Carson Johnson has kindly consented to receive them.
