Rappahannock County. The annual campaign, held in Virginia and nationwide each February supports heart research at the Medical College of Virginia and the University of V ir gin i a Medical Center' and other research centers. It also supports programs of public and professional education and community services. The Virginia Heart Association and its seven chapters, who sponsor the Annual Heart Fund Campaign in Virginia, are affiliated with the American Heart Association.

Mr. Robert Leonard, principal of A. S. Rhodes Elementary School in Warren County, will be speaker at the PTA meeting of Washington Elementary School on Tuesday Feb. 16. Meeting time is 7:30 p.m. Mr. Leonard will speak on “Newer Techniques in Teaching Elementary Arithmetic". This deals primarily with the base structure in the first seven grades and how it is taught in comparison with old. er m e t h{6 ds of teaching arithmetic. I Mr. Leonard holds a Master’s Degree from the Un iversity ot-Virginia and frequently teaches extension classes in “Mathematics for Teachers" for the University. He is a former teacher in Rappahannock County, having taught here for three years.
