Historical society is seeking information on the ten oldest houses in Rappahannock County. This information is very necessary for the preparation of the first annual report to be published at the end of this year. It is also necessary for the committee on houses and families to prepare their research on the oldest properties in the County. There is some doubt in the minds of members as to what houses are oldest. It will be helpful to establish the facts once and for all. Of course it is known that many of the early residences were destroyed. These too are to be identified, located and catalogued in all known detail by the Society. This is an open invitation to all possessors of information on the ten oldest houses (whether they be occupied at present or not, and whether they be log or anything else) to write or phone any of the officers of the Society to set up an appointment to discuss the information available. Any clippings from old newspapers magazines or letters which shed light on the subject will be most helpful. Then the certain documented information comes in old wills and records of conveyance of peoperty. These are most valuable sources. The Society
