In Virginia dry weather during August reduced bean prospects, and the crop is now estimated at 7 million 86C thousand bushels—only 3 per cent above last year. A yield of 20 bushels per aere, the same as last year, is expected.

The National Research Coun cil reports a new silicon water repellant for windshields. Applied to glass and rubbed hard it forms a tough film 1/10,000 of an inch thick and barely visible. Drops of water then hitting the windshield literally explode on contact and fly off in tiny particles, leaving the glass clear. This occurred while n,on-treated glass became blurred and then completely obscured under a build up of water._
