Frequent Light Cleaning Is Best for Upholstery
Don’t allow soil to collect and become deeply imbedded in upholstered fabrics, warns Mrs. Ocie J. O’Brien, Extension home management specialist at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. “Heavily soiled furniture is difficult, if not impossible, to clean satisfactorily,' she points out. “Frequent light cleaning with a vacuum brush attachment gives better results than occasional, more intensive cleaning." Mrs. O’Brien suggests this cleaning procedure - Remove the cushions and vacuum the chair body. Pay particularattention to the back, armrest, seams, and crevices. Clean the cushions in the same way, unless they are stuffed with down. Vacuum down-filled cushions only if they are lined with down-proof ticking; otherwise, brush or dust them with 9 rlnrh.
