Scholarship of $2000
Three college scholarships wqrth up to $2,000 each will be made available again this year to area high school seniors through the Potomac Edison System Scholarship Program. The opening of the 1965-1966 competition was announced today by A. McDaniel Luray District Manager of the Northern Virginia Power Com pany, a subsidiary of the Poto mac Edison System. Two of the scholarships will go to students whose parents or guardians are customers of one of the PE System companies, and one scholarship will be awarded to a student whose parent or guardian is a company employee. Thecom petition is open to students of all high schools throughout the area served by the Potomac Edison System, and winners' scholarships can be applied at any accredited college or university in the United States All judging of applicants will be handled by a panel of professional educators headed by Dean Robert L. Strider, Director of Financial Aid for the Johns Hopkins University. Application forms, along with booklets describing the Scholarship Program, have been distributed to all secondary schools in the company's service area and should be available through their guidance counselors.
