After objecting strongly at the February meeting to salary increases requested by county officials and aides, and taking a dim view on the necessity of a deputy for the Sheriff’s department, the Rappahannock Board of Super visors approved all of these requests at the March Board meeting Friday. However, voting was not unanimous. At the February meeting a hearing with the State Compen sation Commission had been scheduled for February 25. This hearing was cancelled the day before it was to take place when several of the Board members gathered at the Clerk’s office and agreed to go along with the requests. A recorded vote on this issue was taken at Friday’s meeting and was as follows: For, Supervisors Miller, Luttrell, Estes, and Foster; Against, Supervisors Wood and Buckner.
