Madam Editor, 1 have been following with a great deal of interest the ex,1 pressed opinions of contribu-; tors to Letters to the Editor. I think this is a healthy thing for this county. People, whatever their position, need an out let for ideas and observations on the workings of the county as well as other subjects. I would, however, like to take! this opportunity to defend your position in regard to your policy of withholding the name of die writer at his request. I state this simply because I have full confidence in you and your ethical standards, and believe that you would publish no letter that was damaging to another’s character; It appears to me that Mr. Miller read into Perturbed’s letter things that weren't there. Why this happened only he can answer. We have only to surmise. - To advance a provocative question actually needs no signature. When a question is put forth what real difference does it make who brought it up? AH of us are guilty of evaluating the author rather than the profundity of a question and it is not fair to a person of a lower strata of society to have his idea or question discounted ^before serious thought is given it. By withholding the author's name you do your readers ai great service in some instances because not knowing they are able to approach the questions more objectively without the pall of pre-judgment clouding the issue. I sincerely hope that you will continue with your present policy and not be badgered into making your wonderful paper forbidden ground for the lowly.
