The annual Labor Day Whistle Cup Tennis Tournament held at Piedmont Farm, Sperry ville, the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. K. G. Tholand, came to an abrupt end Monday when a contestant injured an ankle. Mrs. Tholand presents the cups to Col. Evan A. McNear and Mrs. Ruth Baumgardner who were declared winners. The preliminary games were held Sunday on the courts of Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Parrish, Judge and Mrs. R. V. Snead, and the Tholands with the finals at Piedmont. Miss Gene Blackwell of Warrenton injured her ankle during the finals. Her partner was Drj John Peyton Snead IV. The champions took the first set 6-4 and the mishap occurred before the second set was completed. '
