Pvt. Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. completed his eight weeks basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky on August 25. He is now stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma to continue his train ing. Seaman Recruit David C. Lyne, 21, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Lyne of Wash ington, Va. was graduated from nine weeks of Navy basic training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, 111. His training was highlighted by participating in midAmerica’s “Salute to the Flag" ceremonies held at Soldier Field in Chicago. He was one of the more than 10,000 Navymen who formed a human “Living Flag" in honor of all men and women who are, or have been in the U. S. Armed Forces. During his training he studied military subjects and lived and worked under conditions similar to those he will encounter on his first ship or at his first duty station. He also received instruction in seamanship, survival techniques, military drill and other « related subjects.
