The above figures are from the third year of a continuing creel study and fishermen survey on test sections of the Shenandoah system to analyze the effects of the 12 inch’ limit. This study shows that the number of hours fished on the river dropped from 142,000 in 1964 to 118,000 in 1965 to'100,000 in 1966. This decrease is atrributedlargely to drouth conditions during these years which made the river difficult to float and created objectionable algae blooms. Data was collected by creel clerks, voluntary return creel cards, and both air and ground counts of fishermen.
