U. S. Department of Agriculture food programs aided 71,722 needy persons in Virginia during February, 2,516 persons more than the number that received food assistance in January.

USDA’s Consumer and Marketing Service said that 23,944 persons in 22 counties and 4 cities took part in its food stamp program and received $161,261 in bonus coupons.
