Season Opens Here
The 1969 spring turkey season opens in Rappahannock and adjoining counties this Saturday, April 19. As in past spring seasons, only bearded turkeys may be taken. This year’s season will be longer than usual with three full weeks, plus an additional Saturday. There is also an extra hour of hunting each day. Hunters must be out of the woods by 11 a.m. instead of the previous 10 a.m.
Driving and the use of dogs is prohibited and hunting methods are restricted to still hunting and calling. Electronic calling devices are not legal. Though there are many restrictions, they all serve a good purpose, which is to afford .he hens as much protection as possible while still allowing hunters to harvest the surplus of gobblers.
