The Division of Forestry reports that 367 forest fires burned 1077 acres of forestland in the 16-county Northern Piedmont District during 1969. In Rappahannock County, 2 fires have burned 5 acres of forestland. During 1968 there was a total of 548 fires, and these fires burned 1303 forested acres in the Northern Piedmont area.
During 1969 the fire danger was moderately low in January and February, but severe conditions developed during the latter part of March and lingered on through April. During these months, forest wardens and

Joint Lenten Program
A joint Lenten program is being planned by the Episcopal and Rappahannock Charge Methodist churches under the direction of the Rev. William M. Hargett and the Rev. Jerry Campbell.
6n Thursday evenings, starting February 12, there will be a Pot Luck supper at 6 o’clock at the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, followed by program and discussion. A short service will be held on Ash Wednesday, February 11 at Trinity Church beginning at 12 noon.
