president of the organization ever since its organization (1914-1951). This organization gave a $410.00 scholarship to a young minister last year.
Before Main Street was macadamized the church built a board walk from the comer of Wheeler and Main Streets to the church.
The church in recent years has added a dining room which is furnished with tables and chairs. This was done during the tenure of the Rev. Kenneth Coleman. Presently the major project on hand is the repair of the church roof.
Culpeper Hospital

The year 1969 was the largest growth year in the history of Culpeper Memorial Hospital. According to L. B. Henretty, President of the Board of Directors, “the size of the Jiosoltal’s growth clearly, flW3tia*eO the iRTpbrtance !of rapidly carrying out the hospital’s planned expansion.” Mr. Henretty pointed out that of the 2,266 increase in patient days, 2,221 of these were Medical-Surgical (patients other than Obstetrical) which resulted in a percentage of occupancy in the Medical-Surgical unit of 93.4%, “and this clearly does not leave much room for growth in our present facilities.” Moreover, the growth rate is continuing, “through the first twenty-two days of January 1970, we have had 207 more'.patient days than the same period in January-1969. This is true in spite of the fact that January 1969 was a rather heavy month.” A patient day is defined as one patient in the hospital for one day. Mr. Henretty also announced that the annual meeting of the Culpeper Memorial Hospital Association will be held on Friday, February 6th at 8:00 p.m. in the Northern Piedmont Electric Cooperative Building on Route 29 and the public is invited.
