Sift together flour, cinnamon and allspice into large mixing bowl. Blend in shortening, 1 cup brown sugar and :,4 cup milk. Beat 2 minutes on medium speed of electric mixer or 300 strokes by hand. Blend in remaining '4 cup milk and eggs. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes or 300 strokes more. Turn into greased 9-inch square baking pan. Bake in preheated 350“ oven 50 to 55 minutes, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely. While cake is cooling, combine butter or margarine, xi> cup brown sugar and ', i cup milk in saucepan. Bring to boil and cook 1 minute, stirring frequently. Codl slightly. Gradualy add confectioners sugar, bealting until smooth and of spreading consistency. Spread cake with frosting. f
