Hunting Offered
Dove hunting will be a special attraction on at least nine areas in Eastern Virginia owned or managed by the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries, reminds Game Management Field Coordinator C. H. Shaffer. Commission owned Powhatan, Amelia, Elm Hill, White Oak Mountain and James River areas, plus cooperatively managed Kerr Reservoir Lands, Camp Pickett, Camp A. P. Hill and Quantico Marine Reservation will be open for dove hunting on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the first half of the dove season which opens September 5. Dove hunting is also permitted on other Commission owned and managed lands east of the Blue Ridge, but these areas are not expected to attract the concentrations of birds necessary for good shooting.
