However, several nature centers where exhibits are displayed daily during the summer will remain open on weekends. The self-guided nature trails are always available for walking.
Four of the park system’s five restaurants will cease operating the second week in September, but the Hungry Mother Grill at Hungry Mother State Park near Marion continues into the fall.
Three state-owned historical, sites also will close after the summer season. They are the
George Washington Grist Mill in j Fairfax County, Sayler’s Creek Battlefield Park near Farmville, and Shot Tower Historical Park in Wythe County.
Another attraction, the Southwest Virginia Museum in Big Stone Gap, is open year-round every day except Mondays.
At Douthat State Park near Clifton Forge, a change is being made this year in the trout-fishing schedule. The plan whereby anglers pay a $1 daily fee Will close at the end of September
