ASC Elec. Ballots
To Be Mailed Soon
On September 1, ASC community committee election ballots will be mailed to all known eligible farm voters, according to H. S. Barksdale, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee.
Farm voters may vote for up to three of the candidates listed, or they may write in their choices on lines provided at the bottom of the ballot. To be counted, all ballots must be properly signed and mailed or returned to the County ASCS Office by September 11. Votes will be tabulated September 15, 1970 at 9 a.m. in the Board Room of the Rappahannock National Bank.
In each of the five ASC communities in the county, three community committeemen and two alternates will be elected. The candidate receiving the largest number of votes becomes chairman; the second largest vote-getter, vice-chairman; third-high, regular member; fourth and fifth highest become first and second alternates who may serve on the committee if regular members are temporarily absent or if a permanent vacancy occurs.
ASC community committees are elected for one-year terms, beginning October 1.
It’s very important that farmers elect their most qualified farm-neighbors for community committee posts. These community committees elect the County ASC Committee and choose its officers. They also assist the County ASC Committee in local administration of Government of farm programs
