The marriage of Miss Gloria Jean Nethers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Silas Nethers of Arlington, Virginia, to Mr. Elvin Russell Lukenbach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elvin Lukenbach of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, took place Saturday evening, August 22, 1970, in the First Baptist Church of Clarendon, Arlington. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend Thomas Miller in a setting of palms, lighted candelabra and baskets of white gladioli and pom-pons.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of candlelight peau d’ soie, fashioned with long, tapered sleeves ending in points over the hands. Chantilly lace, embroidered with seed pearls, covered the empire bodice, while medallions of the ame lace artfully decorated the sleeves and train. Generous medallions of lace bordered the hemline of the skirt and her detachable train flowed to chapel length. Her mantilla of candlelight illusion edged in matching chantilly lace fell from a tiara of seed pearls and extended beyond the chapel train. She carried a cascade of white rose buds, baby’s breath and ivy.
