Early September has been unseasonably warm. However, the nights have been cool, sending a little chill into the warm surface waters. This bids well for the bass fishermen. It means the big ones should be hitting on the top foi the next few weeks.
Most rivers around the state are clear and in the best condition of a somewhat disappointing season. The Cowpasture, Chickahominy, Holston, Jackson, James, Mattaponi, New River, Pamunkey, Rappahannock and Shenandoah are all in fishing condition. Most are clear but low. Some are dingy, but still producing.
