Mother Nature is generous indeed. And this year she is showering her bounty on 187,000 4-H’ers enrolled in the national 4-H horticultural program.
The young people grow fruits and vegetables, plan and plant their home grounds and care for ornamental plants for the house, yard and garden. And they learn from practical experience and educational materials provided by the Cooperative Extension Service.
Horticultural pursuits are for all seasons, but perhaps, late summei and early fall are the most colorful and fruitful times of the year. It also is the time when 4-H members find they can reap s double harvest. Not only do the) use and enjoy what they have grown, but many of them earr recognition for their good work
