Allis-Chalmers, sponsor of the 4-H horticultural program for a quarter of a century. The company provides top 4-H achievers with awards at county, state and national levels. Topping the list are eight $600 national scholarships. The state winner receives an expense-paid trip to National 4-H Congress in Chicago. The 1970 Congress is scheduled Nov. 29-Dec. 3. County awards are medals of honor and this year more than 6,500 young horticulturists are expected to receive such recognition.
Among the 4-H members who enjoyed a double harvest last year is Roger Dieterle of Kief, N. D. and his $600 scholarship is being put to good use at North Dakota State University where he is preparing for a career in horticulture.
In announcing the awards given by Allis-Chalmers, the National 4-H Service Committee notes that all young people from 9-19 years 1 of age are eligible to participate in the 4-H horticultural program.
Enrollments are being accepted at county extension offices across the country.
