... so there will be no further misunderstanding concerning my position on QUALITY EDUCATION The following has been accomplished for Public Education during my terms as Supervisor: 1. Constructed new elementary school for all. 2. Added new classrooms and vocational building at the high school for all. 3. Purchased modern equipment to equip new schools. 4. Improved and maintained safe and modem bus fleet 5. Established teacher’s salary scale starting at $6,800 to $8,800 in 12 steps, plus $500 for Master’s Degree. This saJary scale is competitive with Madison, Warren, Page, Clarke, Frederick, Shenandoah and Cjulpeper counties and the City of Winchester. 6. Supported the Lord Fairfax Community College at Middletown and the University of Virginia Extension at Madison. 7. Appropriated $732,000 for Education this year at a cost of over $600 per child. I have voted for all of the above after making sure that all unnecessary expenses were eliminated and the people knew what the costs would be to them in taxes. The money has been appropriated - -
