Pfc. Irvin O. Gatewood has completed his basic training with the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island, S. C. and has returned to Camp LeJeune, N. C. after spending a 15-day leave with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gatewood at Washington, Va. He entered the Marine Corps June 9, 1971.
Pfc. Gatewood received a National Defense Medal, Rifle Range Medal and Meritorious Award during final review exercises which were attended by his mother and his sister Martha and William Rector. Gatewood was a 1970 graduate of George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church and plans to pursue further education in control data processing while in the service.
Fall Cattle Sales
Set at Madison Mkt
The first of four fall cattle sales begins at the Madison Livestock Market, Inc., at Madison Mills, Friday night, September 24th. Subsequent sale dates will be October 8th, October 22nd, and November 5th.
Manager Doug Tucker reports that buyers are coming from a wide area in addition to those from Virginia, and that consignments continue to be received. He remarks that the sales, last year, brought area farmers well over one million dollars.
