THE Rappahannock Panthers closed their most successful season for several years with a win Friday night and a loss Tuesday.
The team chalked up five victories this season under the direction of coach Carter Ellis, who guided the group through a difficult schedule. The local school is the smallest in the district.
Coaching a team with a long losing streak — so long it was bordering on tradition — is a difficult job, at best. Coach Ellis took the job, turned the traditional tide, and laid the groundwork for a new tradition.
The Panthers lost to Montevideo Tuesday and took a win Friday when they met the Elkton Elks. Prior to that they had won twice with Strasburg; and once each with Central, William Monroe and Elkton.
