A GROUP of area farmers and businessmen who are planning a farmerowned livestock market have scheduled a public meeting for Friday, February 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Virginia Gentleman Restaurant in Front Royal.
Detailed information regarding the inception of a producer-owned market in the Front Royal area will be presented.
Facts pertaining to the location, type of structure, method of operation and financing will be disclosed. Details regarding the sale of stock to interested farmer-producers will also be discussed.
As planned, the new market will be owned and controlled by a large group of stockholders.
“The aim is to have as wide a distribution of holdings among the farmers who buy and sell through the market — and consequently have a personal stake in the business — as possible,” said a member of the Steering Committee, V.L. Kemp.
