Virginia’s 1971-72 deer kill totaled 42,054, justshy of the 42,313 predicted by Game Commission Biologists and nearly 4,000 above last year’s record deer harvest, reports Game Division Chief R.H.
About 1,000 of ifte increase came from West of the Blue Ridge counties, the re-mainder coming from Eastern counties. Over. 2,000 more deer were bagbed in Piedmont counties South of die dames River, many of which had an extra day of doe shooting.
The kill in Northern Virginia counties only incrg-, ased 147 animals with the increase in hag from one to two per license year. There was,a 460 increase:
