The Paul Kuentz Chamber Orchestra of Paris will appear Sunday, February 20 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of Culpeper County High School.
This is an ensemble of 15 male and female prizewinning instrumentalists. They have toured extensively in Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico and South America under the direction of conductor Paul Kuentz.
The instrumentation of the group consists of seven violins, two violas, two cellos, a double bass and either a piano or clavichord. To this basic unit may be added wind instruments to achieve the combinations desired for the presentations.
This year the group is touring with a sporano soloist, Barbara Schlick, and an old friend from previous seasons, Adolph Scherbaum, the renowned trumpet soloist.
The programs will be given a new twist with selections including either a Bach Cantata for soprano and trumpet, or a Scarlatti Cantata for soprano and trumpet.
Concertos for violin and cello, as well as old standbys such as Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,’’ will be included in the program.
