ON TUESDAY, July 4, 10 to 5 o’clock, the Library’s Super Flea Market' and Fourth Celebration will transform Washington, Va. into a music-filled town of singing voices, fun games, good food and drink, and thousands of bargains.
“The Lord Willin’ and weather permittin’,” says Col. Pete Luke, chairman of arrangements, “a border-to-border county turnout is expected, plus a large visiting public from Culpeper, Fauquier and areas as far as Washington, D.C. and Charlottesville.”
“Drizzle or shine, we’ll go on with the celebration. Only a deluge will stop us.”
THE DAY program will be full of variety and zest. At 1:30 a short, snappy entertainment on the steps of the Rappahannock Library will sound a patriotic note in the Independence Day tradition, its title: “America Sings.”
Strolling musicians, instead of cars, will cruise the shopping mall of umbrella -lined Gay Street, singing their songs for shoppers and sitters alike.
