HOMEMAKERS’ HINTS
By KAY E. WEBB Extension Agent, Home Economics
WITH ALL OF THE RAINY weather lately, it is a good time to take a look at your umbrella. On one of those bright sunny days bring out the umbrellas for a cleaning.
Beatrice Kalka, an Extension Home Economist, recommends opening the umbrella and place it in the bath tub or a place where spilled water will not be a problem. It is best to place the umbrella on a sheet of paper. Newsprint may stain light-colored umbrellas.
With a sponge or a soft brush of some type, gently scrub the fabric with a soap or detergent in warm water. Then sponge the fabric with cool water, remove excess water with a towel and wipe each rib. Leave the umbrella open until it has dried completely. .
Now you are all ready for the next rainy day with a clean umbrella.
