WHEN THE ladies were re-elected to office for their second term, they all qualified and their names were on the ballot. Since that election the remaining ones have all been writeins. Miss Ruby Jenkins was the first clerk of the group. Prior to the all-woman council, Mrs. Louise Price had served in that position with one other lady, Mrs. Mary Partlow.
When President Nixon doubled his salary a while back the officials of Washington, Va., doubled theirs, too. The mayor retires from a $10 a month salary and council members receive $5 per month each.
