Many school teachers over the age of 62 are taking advantage of a good thing, reported Mrs. Hazel F. Crumpton, district manager of the Winchester ^Social Security office.
“They are receiving social security checks for the month each summer that they do not work and it is perfectly legal,” stated Mrs. Crumpton.
School teachers can receive a check for July and sometimes June or August even if they are paid on a 12-month basis. The only requirements are that they be over 62, do not work and earn over $140 during the month, and file an ap3 plication with the social security office.
