This regulation will make Virginia’s Hazardous Household Substances Law parallel to the provisions of the Federal Act - making any article banned under this Act also banned under the Virginia Act. The adoption of this regulation now provides State enforcement officials with the regulatory authority to remove articles from sale as soon as they are banned by Federal authorities.
Other items before the Board included the approval of the proposed 1974-76 budget for the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Commerce; a review of the standards being developed for agricultural and horticultural land use; and an overview and projected outlook for Virginia’s 1973 crop year.
IN OTHER matters, the Board was informed.by VDAC that plans-are now underway to secure reserve heating fuel supplies for the upcoming winter. Board members were notified that this action comes as a result of the Governor designating this Department to coordinate activities that would result in lessening the effects of a shortage in the availability of petroleum products in Virginia.
It was stressed at this meeting that the Department, in securing reserve heating fuel supplies, would in no way become competitive with private industry. □
