Voting rules
ALL Virginians who move their place of residence before the November 6, 1973 election are urged to transfer their voting registration to the election district of their new residence. The last day on which this can be done is October 6.
According to information provided by the State Board of Elections, if a voter fails to advise the registrar of his change of residence from one place to another, and the move occurred more than 30 days prior to the election, such voter may not be permitted to vote.
Virginia law requires that a person to be entitled to vote must be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age, a resident of the state and of the precinct in which he wishes to vote 30 days before the election and must be duly registered and otherwise qualified under the Constitution.
The office of the Rappahannock County General Registrar is open each Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. with an hour off for lunch. The office will be open all day Saturday, October 6, the last on which you may register to vote in the fall election. □
