A NEW occupational program designed for persons interested in entering or seeking promotion in the retail food industry has been added to the curriculum at Lord Fairfax Community College. The oneyear program begins this Fall and applications and registration for full-time or part-time students is now in progress.

The Food Marketing program is designed for preservice and in-service food store proprietors and midmanagement employees of the retail food industry. Specific college courses in food merchandising are integrated with other courses in merchandising management, salesmanship, business management and general education. The curriculum may be applied to independent or chain suppermarket operations.

The specialized food merchandising courses in the program have been scheduled to be held at evening sessions. This will permit part-time students to continue their regular daytime activities. The specialized program courses include Introduction to Food Marketing (Fall); Supermarket Merchandising (Winter); and Supermarket Operations (Spring).
