Miller s term will expire in i»/o, dui siaie law requires that an appointee to an unexpired term must run in the next general election. So Baldwin, or anyone else who seeks the position, will run in November of 1974. “People insisted that I run, back when I opposed Mr. Miller, so when the seat became vacant, people started coming again, asking me to go talk to Judge Snead about it,” Baldwin said. “So I’m going to try it. * And if the people think I’m okay, I’ll run in November.” Baldwin declined to comment on the new county zoning and subdivision ordinances, or the budget. “I really don’t know enough to say. I just want to sit with the Board and learn.” Baldwin is the proprietor of Baldwin’s General Store. He and his wife have two children, a son and a daughter, and three grandchildren, all of whom live in Rappahannock County.

Newbill Miller had served as chairman of the Supervisors since his appointment in 1963. The Supervisors will elect a chairman at their May 2 meeting. □
