Track events are becoming prominent activities at Rappahannock County High School in both Girls and Boys athletic departments, and last Thursday the local girls reaped a smashing victory over Elkton at Elkton. The final score was 66-30. A previous meet with Luray netted Rappa - hannock a 45-8 victory.
Girls track consists of three types of events: throwing, jumping and running. Earlier the Pantherettes of RCHS have achieved in all the events except running and at the meet Thursday proved they could run as well as jump.
Two school records were surpassed in the running events when Mary Hudson ran the 440 yard dash in 1:10 bettering Donna Cannon’s mark of 1:12.5. Faye Dunn lowered Katie Pendleton’s mark in the 220 dash with 29.1 time compared to Katie’s 29.2.
